Veteran Services

Through our Veteran Services programs, Volunteers of America of the Northern Rockies provides several programs that are designed to address the needs of our Veteran populations. We strive to provide a hand up, not a hand out, to Veterans in need, and work with other community resources, including the VA, to achieve the goal of ending Veteran homelessness.

Volunteers of America is committed to assisting Veterans of all military campaigns, and we are active in providing services to Veterans who have become homeless since serving in the military. Many conditions do not become apparent until after our Veterans are discharged from service, and issues that arise for Veterans during and after their service can severely impact their quality of life. Therefore we stand poised to offer our assistance.

Serving those that served

We are actively committed to serving our nation’s Veterans in the region, with programs in Montana, Wyoming and Western South Dakota focused on rapid rehousing and homeless prevention.

Volunteers of America operates two transitional living facilities: Freedom Hall in Sheridan, Wyoming and Independence Hall in Billings, Montana. These programs provide a therapeutic living environment for our Veterans. In this setting, they are able to continue receiving treatment through the VA and are given opportunities to participate in activities designed to help them return to independent living and reconnect with the local community.

The coordinators of both programs work hard to connect Veterans with vocational training and education opportunities, as well as life skills training to prepare them to lead successful lives. Providing much more than a place to live, both Freedom Hall and Independence Hall are creating strong community networks that can come together to help our Veterans.

Outside of the transitional living facilities, Volunteers of America of the Northern Rockies has programs throughout Wyoming, Montana, and Western South Dakota to help Veterans find suitable homes and meaningful employment.
