Freedom Hall
Freedom Hall is an 11-bed men’s transitional housing facility for Veterans located in Sheridan, Wyoming. The facility operates 24 hours a day and includes a full kitchen (where the men are responsible for preparing their own meals), a laundry room, and a dining and living space which includes a TV area, computer & resource room, a conference room. The outside area features a horseshoe pit and picnic tables, and a creek runs alongside the facility for fishing and nature walks.
Freedom Hall is active in partnering with other community organizations and group, providing as many resources as possible to help ensure the long-term success of all program participants.
Freedom Hall is funded by a grant from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. Residents are able to continue receiving treatment through the Veterans Administration and are given opportunities to participate in activities designed to help them return to independent living and reconnect with the local community.
At Freedom Hall program residents are provided with:
- Weekly case management
- Life Skills training
- A therapeutic living environment where they can continue receiving services at the local VA facility
- Volunteer opportunities within the community
- Transportation to the VA, appointments, interviews, and jobs
- Opportunities to participate in courses and work shops that focus on developing education, employability, and enjoyment (e.g. college courses, employment resources, fly fishing lessons)
Partnerships with local service providers, federal, state and local agencies, educational institutions, local businesses, volunteers from the community and other entities all work to ensure the success of Freedom Hall residents.
By giving Veterans the tools to be independent, Freedom Hall is helping them find success after transitioning out of the facility.
