Faith Coaching
“All I do is show up and offer the love of Christ with plenty of grace,” that is how Commissioned Minister Louann Weber explained her role in the Faith Coaching.
Senior Director of Ministry Nick Angeloff went on to explain that Faith Coaching “has six coaches and more in training. It offers weekly support and mentorship to patients in the Christian Enhancement Program.”
What started as a mere idea is now a vibrant program offering spiritual support to our residential treatment patients, taking the wisdom from Proverbs that “iron sharpens iron, just as one man sharpens another.”
Faith Coach volunteers use their faith and passion along with the training provided by Volunteers of America to give a listening ear and Biblical guidance for those battling addiction.
Louann offers a deep pool of empathy and understanding to the patients she meets with. Openly sharing her own testimony of overcoming addiction with the help of Christ. By offering accountability and love to those broken by addiction, Louann has supported countless women on their journey of recovery.
Dr. Anita Schamber, a Faith Coaching and commissioned minister who has years of experience as a life coach and Christian leader, shared “The best thing I can do is listen, without judgment, and reflect the love of God into their lives … I’m reminded of Isaiah 61:1 (MSG) ‘The Spirit of God, the Master, is on me … He sent me to preach good news to the poor, heal the heartbroken, announce freedom to all captives, pardon all prisoners. God sent me to announce the year of his grace,’ that grace is what I try to share with the women I mentor.”
“Through their generous gift of time, the Faith Coach volunteers have changed so many lives,” said Nick Angeloff. “The coaches, along with the prayers and financial support of our local faith community, have given breath to Faith Coaching,” Nick added.
And that breath has given new life to the men and women who participate in the program. Following the words of Solomon that “iron sharpens iron, just as one man sharpens another,” Faith Coaching is using grace and love to help those working to live a life of recovery.
